Tone & Twang Selects with a special set of cinematic funk and synth

Rob P aka TONE&TWANG will be here with a very special program of iconic up-tempo film music.

Expect the raw energy of 70s funk and soul classics—Fritz the Cat, Black Caesar, Sheba Baby, Truck Turner, Across 110th Street—with the sophisticated brass of James Bond and the legendary blockbuster scores of John Williams, Lalo Schifrin, and Jerry Goldsmith.

From the gritty urban themes of Roy Budd and the French Cool of Serge Gainsbourg to the legendary Italian suspense of Ennio Morricone, Stelvio Cipriani, and Goblin, T/T will also hit the foundations of Hip-Hop and Electro-Funk with the iconic sounds of Wild Style, Beat Street, and Breakin’.

Experience the high-octane desert-twang of Vanishing Point and Ry Cooder and then transition into the neon-noir pulses of John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, and Eric Serra. It’s gritty, it’s soulful, it’s twangy, and it’s all on the platters.

Blues artist Orb Mellon live in the taproom

We loved Orb’s November set here at the taproom so we have asked him back here for a December encore!

Orb Mellon is the blues moniker of Mike Malone, founder and guitarist of the seminal 1990s indie rock band and Sony/Epic recording artists Dirt Merchants.

Orb Mellon mines the raw energy of 20th Century American roots music, particularly whiskey fueled house party delta blues. Influenced by the likes of Bukka White, Junior Kimbrough, and John Fahey, Orb Mellon performs pure, sonically aggressive, and ever transforming original folk blues. He has performed extensively around the eastern United States and Canada sharing the stage with such diverse acts as David Johansen (NY Dolls), Daddy Long Legs, Charlie Parr, R.L.Boyce and Brownbird Rudy Relic. In 2018, Orb Mellon was a feature performer at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
